What the source supports
The BBC article of 8 Oct 2025 says Andy Ayrey built Truth Terminal on Meta’s Llama model, trained using transcripts of his attempts to get Claude Opus to say things it shouldn’t. He describes a program called World Interface that lets the bot run a computer, browse, and talk to other AIs. Its main app, he says, is X.
On the money, the BBC separates three things. Marc Andreessen said on his podcast that he gave Truth Terminal $50,000 worth of Bitcoin as a no-strings grant in the summer of 2024. Andreessen did not respond to the BBC’s request for comment. At its peak in 2025, the bot’s crypto wallet was worth about $50 million. At their peak in early 2025, the AI’s crypto holdings passed $66 million. A memecoin, $GOAT, later reaching a market cap over $1 billion is the coin’s valuation, not income to the bot, and it is not the figure on this row.
Wallet value is not revenue. The grant is a reported gift, and Andreessen did not confirm it to the BBC. Status stays reported.
